Welcome to the Seipke Lab at the University of Leeds. Broadly speaking, the research group is interested in the biology of actinomycete bacteria, which are renowned for their diverse and robust secondary metabolism and the production of industrially- and medically-important natural products. Our work focuses on the molecular genetics and biochemistry of natural products biosynthesis and its regulation. A main goal of ours is to develop robust methods for natural products discovery and bioengineering. We also have a significant interest in understanding the evolution of microbial secondary metabolism and its ecological significance. Thank you for stopping by!
